My Journey into Mental Health Care

I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) as well as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-C). From the very beginning of my nursing career, I was drawn to the connections I formed with patients. While treating physical conditions was important, I quickly recognized how profoundly mental health impacts every aspect of a person’s life — their relationships, their physical health, their work, and their overall sense of well-being. I saw how many individuals struggled in silence with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and stress, often feeling overwhelmed or dismissed by a system that didn’t always make space for their voices.

That recognition fueled my desire to specialize in mental health. I pursued advanced training in psychiatric care, building on my foundation in primary care, so that I could bridge both worlds: a deep understanding of the mind-body connection and the ability to create care plans that address the whole person. Becoming a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner allowed me to combine my medical expertise with my passion for listening, connecting, and helping people feel truly seen.

My Philosophy of Care

At Sage Psychiatry & Wellness, my philosophy is simple: every individual deserves care that is personalized, respectful, and collaborative. No two people experience mental health challenges in the exact same way, so treatment should never be “one size fits all.”

When you come to see me, I want you to feel safe, heard, and understood. I see each appointment as a partnership. My role is to bring clinical expertise, evidence-based treatment options, and a calm, compassionate presence. Your role is to bring your story, your goals, and your willingness to engage in the process. Together, we create a plan that makes sense for you — one that supports not only your mental health but also your overall life balance.

I strongly believe in a whole-person approach. While medication can be an important and effective tool, it is never the only tool. I incorporate supportive therapy, lifestyle strategies, and education to help you build resilience and confidence. Whether we are managing ADHD, addressing anxiety, navigating depression, or working through life transitions, the focus is always on creating sustainable changes that empower you to thrive.

Special Interests and Expertise

I work with adults ages 18 and older across Pennsylvania and Delaware, with particular expertise in:

  • Anxiety Disorders – helping patients manage worry, overthinking, and panic in healthier ways.

  • Depression – supporting individuals to find light, hope, and motivation when life feels heavy.

  • ADHD – guiding patients in developing focus, structure, and strategies that improve daily life.

  • Life Transitions – supporting individuals through challenges such as career changes, parenthood, grief, or midlife stressors.

By tailoring each treatment plan to your unique circumstances, I aim to provide care that feels not only effective but also empowering.

Life Outside the Office

While my work is deeply important to me, I also understand firsthand the challenges of balancing personal and professional life. I am a wife and a proud mother of three children. My younger two keep me busy with school and sports. Much of my free time is spent cheering them on at the hockey rink, basketball court, or softball diamond.

Family is at the heart of everything I do, and that perspective influences my practice as well. I know that when one person is struggling, it can ripple through their relationships and their home life. By helping patients strengthen their mental health, I believe I’m also supporting the well-being of families and communities.

Outside of family and work, I enjoy exploring new places, cheering on Philly sports teams, coaching volleyball, and spending time in nature. I’ve found that those moments of connection — whether it’s walking on a beach, hiking a trail, or simply enjoying a quiet evening — are vital to restoring balance and perspective. I encourage my patients to find those small but powerful rituals that ground them, too.

"The team at Sage Psychiatry is truly amazing. They’re warm, open, and genuinely care about your well-being. Every session feels supportive and judgment-free, and they always go the extra mile to help. I’ve never felt more heard or understood — I’m so grateful I found them."

— Crystal S., SAGE PSYCHIATRY CLIENT

Founder, Sage Psychiatry & Wellness

The start of my career began at the bedside on a neurology/neurosurgery floor as a Nurse at the University of Pennsylvania. The experience in the profession was responsible for shaping how I treat and communicate with people, my sense of gratitude and my world view. The patients that left imprints on me were ones who shared life hacks, deepest regrets, fears, spiritual insights and their evolved perspective on life. As I transitioned into my role as a Family Nurse Practitioner It became clear very quickly that the patients who suffered most medically had the most unmet psychological needs impacting their physical state of health, inspiring me to continue my education as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Along the way my curiosity led me to obtain my RYT 200 Registered Yoga Teacher training certification and training through EMDRIA EMDR institute to further encourage the growth of my own body and soul connection.  Our current model of healthcare makes it difficult to simultaneously juggle both medical and psychological issues, so I appreciate the ability to lean on my experience as a Family Nurse practitioner to see beyond psychiatric symptoms and incorporate integrative strategies that takes the “whole person” into consideration.

My Philosophy of Care

The stigma of "mental health" care, as our parents and grandparents viewed it no longer exists. "Mental Health" is just another limb of our person that we are responsible to protect, and heal. Life moves fast for all of us, so I want our time together to be a place of stillness where you can drown out the noise and hear yourself think, feel and reflect. I hope to help you drop some emotional baggage, give you tools to increase your emotional and mental bandwidth and help you move forward to your next season of life with clarity, strength and empowerment.  I look forward to gaining an understanding of your future goals and what wellness looks like for you so that you can take part in exploring available solutions whether it be medications, therapy or both, in order to help you deepen the connection to yourself.

Life Outside the Office

I'm crushing it as an unpaid uber driver to my 4 kids for sports activities, teaching them about awesome music during long car rides, and conflict resolution skills when they've had enough Tom Petty radio. I think we're having fun though? I love traveling and meeting new people but my loyalty as an uber driver overrides that for the next several years. I appreciate learning about music, experimenting with gardening, and celebrating the people I love when we're together.
